Lostprophets hit Austalia!!!

During their whirlwind trip to Oz, Atticus hit up the Roundhouse at the University of New South Wales where the Lostprophets kicked off their Australian tour dates with our competition winners who were lucky enough to meet the band and watch them sound check before the show!

The boys were in great form and took photos and signed Atticus posters for the winners before they got to watch the band play some of their songs live on stage.

Sunday saw the band (and Atticus) fly into Melbourne for the show at Billboard. Our Melbourne winners were treated to a sound check and meet and greet with the band before watching the show later that night.

Our last stop was Brisbane where our Brissy competition winners had a great time hanging out with the band and watching them perform. Check out Luke and Jamie rocking some Atticus threads too!

Thanks to the band who were a pleasure to work with and to all of the winners who Atticus enjoyed hanging out with! The boys have also promised us that they'll be back in Australia soon to play more shows so keep your eyes and ears open people!

Here at Atticus one of the most exciting things for us has always been working with new bands who are making their mark in music and we are especially happy that we can now do this with a heap of super talented Australian artists.

One of the new bands that we are really excited to be working with in 2010 is Lover's Grave; a five piece hardcore explosion of sound hailing from Melbourne. The guys are currently making waves in music press and at live shows throughout Australia and will soon embark on live dates with As I Lay Dying as well as forming part of the lineup on this year's Mistake! Tour with Confession, Thy Art Is Murder and Wish For Wings.

Jeremy Paramore in Atticus!

At this year's Soundwave we caught up with those super talented Paramore members before their show stopping performance on stage at Perth. After picking out their favourite Atticus designs and goodies from the tent (of which there were many!) they hit the stage to play another awesome set in the sweltering heat. Band member Jeremy Davis even posted a pic on the band's website wearing an Atticus shirt a few days later. We always appreciate bands taking the time out to come and show Atticus some love at these hectic events! Skate 4 Cancer in Australia

If you haven't heard of a guy called Rob Dyer or his foundation 'Skate 4 Cancer' yet then you should!!! Rob is an amazing young skateboarder from Canada whose life has been touched several times by cancer. Unlike many others who suffer through the same experiences Rob felt that he had to try to do something to help the only way he knew how - to skate!

Skate 4 Cancer is a non-profit organisation that embraces the idea that knowledge is a huge factor is preventing many forms of cancer and that we should all be more aware of what we can do to fight it. Rob has previously completed several skates across America and Canada to bring awareness to his cause as well as travelling on tours with bands including Alexisonfire, Deftones and Silverstein among many others in order to reach out to young people and actively spread knowledge on a subject he feels passionate about.

Rob and the S4C crew are currently undertaking their biggest challenge to date: a skate across Australia (outback and all!!!). He will be regularly updating his blog (http://www.skate4cancer.com/) so you can keep track of their journey and Atticus Australia will also be meeting up with the Skate 4 Cancer crew in the next few weeks to chat to them about their journey.

One of our favourite new bands this year at Soundwave was definitely Rolo Tomassi. The guys played some amazing sets at the festival as well as opening up for Jane's Addiction at their Sidewave shows. Well kids, it was definitely a HUGE year for Atticus at Soundwave this year and we loved every second of it!!! (OK, maybe not the 3am wake up calls to make our super early flights!).

From visiting so many awesome Australian cities, catching up with great friends to hosting two very special Whitechapel in-store signings and seeing great performances in the glorious Aussie weather we had a ball!

One of the best things for Atticus Australia's involvement at Soundwave Festival this year was getting to meet so many of you guys!
